Hey folks! today I will give you a rundown of ten films that I feel you just have to find the time to watch before you die! So, lets get started!

10. 2001: A Space Odyssey

This is a must see! It goes without saying. An epic, sprawling tale that muses on the possibility of life outside of earth, the creation of mankind and man against machine. Stanley Kubrick was a master of direction and this film cements that fact.

9. The Godfather

The essential mafia movie. Francis Ford Coppola's visual depiction of Mario Puzo's novel tells the tale of a mob family. The saga is in three parts, but this one is the one to see.

7. One Flew Over The Cukoo's Nest

This 1975 American Drama starring Jack Nicholson is a truly great movie. A definite tear-jerker. Great acting and a harrowing insight into the mental health care system at the time. Nicholson won an oscar for best actor for his portrayal of the character, Patrick McMurphy. The film is based on a novel written by the author, Ken Kesey.

6. Saving Private Ryan

Steven Spielberg proves why he is a master filmmaker in the epic World War II movie. A great story about the bonds of brotherhood formed during warfare. Its a great rescue movie as a small team of soldiers fight their way behind enemy lines to find a young private who has lost all of his brothers in the war, and earnt a ticket home.

5. The Ususal Suspects

Consistently noted as having one of the greatest twists in movie history, this crime caper is an absolute must see. It had to be added to the list. I wont say much about this film as it may spoil your enjoyment of it. But lets just say that at the end you get a feeling that you have witnessed the Devil himself!

4. Apocolypse Now

The film that seemed to take forever to make and was dogged by so many production problems truly did deliver on its eventual release in 1979. With so many Vietnam war movies out there, it can be hard to know which are good and which are not worth your time. Trust me, this one is. Marlon Brando gives one of his best performances as the crazed Col. Kurtz.

3. Blue Velvet

A David Lynch masterpiece. Its a movie that is definitely not for everyone. But an essential addition to this list. Stars the late Dennis Hopper.

2. The Shawshank Redemption

A film that went by largely unnoticed at its release, this Stephen King adaptation is such a powerful, unforgettable tale that will leave hearts in mouths. A prison drama starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.

1. Fight Club

Chuck Palahniuck's novel comes to life through the vision of director David Fincher. A film that will leave you with a racing heart and a swimming head!

Howdedo, Thumb86! Well, I agree with every one of your picks but must admit I've yet to see "The Usual Suspects," "Blue Velvet," or "Fight Club." The HORROR!! ;) Anyway, my son is disgusted with me for not seeing "Fight Club," so now I'll have some ammunition-I'll bet he's never seen the others!!!

Welcome to HubPages, enjoy!
